Looks like you made the new transition quite well! But really, wouldn't you rather be back in the still chilly City doing the same old thing? Of course once the days hit 175dF daily you'll think twice about wearing a black shirt 🤓.
Nothing like taking a fun and tasty hobby to the next level. Down here a decade ago there was a farmer's market fellow who calls himself Zak The Baker. For years now he has one of the finest brick and mortar bakery/delis in Miami and wholesale deliveries that go as far as 30 miles north.
Congrats on the change of climate and latitude/longitude.
It took me over a month not to jump every time my cell phone went off! That job with NYU faculty housing was good for me, I have no complaints. That being said, being on call 24/7 weighs on a guy, after 25 years of it I was burned out. Now, in the valley of the sun the flame is begining to rekindle. Smile...
you took off a bunch of weight. That dessert sun and the feeling of freedom. Plus not having Joe's of Carmine so close at hand...Although I'd put your pie up against the best of them.
Just in the city last weekend to celebrate the MIL's 95th BD. On our one full free day we made the obligatory stops at Frenchette Bakery on Chambers and Upside Pizza on Spring.
Did I ever mention to you that I used to work on B'way and Canal (tree-oh-wun Canal) in the 2nd half of the 70s? There wasn't an early summer day when the call of "yo, fiyawoiks*" wasn't in the air as we approached July 4th. The neighborhood changed just a hair since then ;-) .
*For the uninitiated, that's newyorkese for "I'm selling (illegal) fireworks"

The weather looks great and the baked goods look even better. Nice transition indeed. Congrats!
I am not looking to make this a full-time job. I want it to stay fun. Case in point...
"Good trade" Name the movie.
Congratulations on your move Will, nice that you’re sharing your love of baking with the masses. You look happy which is great to see.
Benny
I feel great too. Better than I have felt in quite a while.
Enough that I would buy several even though there’s lots of bread around here already!
Even with a very low turnout I sold out!
