anybody else getting redirected using the search box?
I don't know if it is on my end or on the site but every time I try to use the search box, I get redirected to an ad and can't get back to search. I have to close the window and re-open. It doesn't seem to happen when searching from the main page but if I'm on a page with a post.
I will do my usual on my end but I wondered if anyone else is experiencing this. Is it a site issue? If doing my thing doesn't make it go away, I will pm Floyd.
Chrome on Android no issues (but i do have rather extensive mitigation methods in place). Enjoy!
I can't replicate your issue. Working well here. MS Edge on Windows 10 Home Version 20H2. I also use UBlock Origin to block ads.
I’m using an ipad iOS 15 and haven’t seen that issue even when searching from within this post.

Yes, same problem but not every time. Using a PC.
...on my Android phone, regardless of browser used. I tried what was suggested elsewhere (logout of TFL, clear cache, clear cookies, reboot and log back in) but it didn't help. It's been happening for a while now. Once I see the redirect starting to load, I hit the back button and just search again and it works fine. Annoying, but at least I can eventually get the info I am looking for.

Yes, happening to me too. Using Chrome on a Windows laptop.
The first time I search it tries to redirect, but my company's firewall won't let it open. I can then use the Back button to go back to the thread and Search again. The second time there doesn't appear to be a redirect. It's happened twice to me so far.
No problems with Firefox on an Ubuntu laptop.
Not sure if known, but for chrome users - mobile Chrome but I'm sure the desktop also has it, or something close
settings/site settings/ popups and redirects - disable it
See if it helps. Enjoy!
phaz, good pickup. Mine was blocked. Cheers.
I have the Do Not Allow Pop-ups and Redirects. Tried a search from this thread and this is what happened. It redirected as soon as the initial search was complete.
It may not have it, surprising but understandable. It may finally be a default setting, real good idea! Remove extensions - see what happens. Of course the possibility of malware is always present, but i can't help there as I'm not in the business anymore. Enjoy!
I've reached out to the primary network that places ads here and asked them to look into filtering these out. I definitely do not approve of those kinds of ads here.
I've also found a place where I can blacklist advertisers by target URLs. I've added the two or three that I've received redirection to to that list.
If you continue to get redirected, please let PM or email me with the URL that you are redirected to so I can add it to the blacklist ASAP.
Thanks.
Will do!
iPhone 8, iOS 14.8 here…
The TFL search redirects me to Noom and other sites and disables the Safari browser back button — it endlessly loops me through those sites.
[later edit: Subsequent searches immediately thereafter do not elicit the above behavior. They work fine. Only the first search redirects down that path.]
Also new today @ TFL on my phone are ads taking up the top half of the screen with every click on the homepage.
Plus the return of Danny A! Welcome back!

The culprit maybe ...afy11.net
My blocking extention lists that as blocked and appears only when performing a search.
Experienced that for the first time today on my iPhone. Very annoying!
button and get redirected (watch above the top of the page) hit the search button repeatedly until it stops redirecting.
Fingers crossed, I think I found it. Please let me know if you get any of those redirect ads. I can't trigger them anymore.
The culprit was one ad tag that got left on just the search results page from an ad network I stopped using years ago. A JS snippet was still there though. It recently started serving those shady ads.
And thank you for all you do on a daily basis!
Thank you, Floyd! This time it works indeed. No redirect ads no more. 👍👍👍
I'm new here but want to say thanks as well. I am amazed how friendly and adventurous everyone is.
yay
Wow! Such a small thing and you found it! Thank you!
