Hi

hi, just joined the group. I am just getting into baking bread and buns..hoping to find helpful tips and recipes on the site. I made some poppy seed buns this week and had trouble interpreting the shaping instructions so I will be posting a question on one of the forums. Looking forward to reading and  learning from what's on this site.

You might pick up a copy of "Tartine" by Chad Robertson. I read the book cover to cover before I ever tried baked anything. It was the first book on bread baking I ever bought and it has taught me the most. Besides the beautiful pictures, he has a strong sense of how to explain his methods and the reasoning behind why certain things are done a certain way. Oh yeah, there are at least a dozen different recipes that work! Each recipe builds on the previous so you go from basic country sourdough to croissants in a single book. Quite the value for your money and time. The book came out in 2010, so there are a lot of people who have tried his methods and put their work on youtube... all so you can get a sense of how to pull off some of his more challenging techniques.

Good luck!

I'll pick up a copy! I expect I'll experience a few challenges along the way.

I love Chad Robertson but my go to book is always Ken Forkish, Flour, Water, Salt and Yeast, so wish he would write another book,
