Looking for an online French food store
I want to order some French pastries and dishes from an online provider. Do you know a French company which is similar to Marks & Spencer?
I want to order some French pastries and dishes from an online provider. Do you know a French company which is similar to Marks & Spencer?
Where are you located and what specific "dishes" do you seek?
My own advice would be to shop around online to find someone local who says they use authentic recipes and also to get referrals and try a small order.
Ordering at a great distance gets very expensive very quickly. And unless the outfit is long-standing and known to be reputable, it is a pricey pig-in-a-poke you'll be spending money on.
I live in London, well I mean traditional French dishes like "Cassoulet" or "Magret de canard" you know.
I didn't find that kind of online food store in the UK, but France is really near so even if I make some orders from there the shipping will be fine I guess.
Do you have any suggestions Boron?
Alas, not. I live in the NYC area and even then, do not know any places that offer to ship what you request. I assume such products would have to be shipped overnight and/or frozen. For cassoulet, that'd be no problem, for the duck, well, that is best served freshly made. Just my opinions, of course.
Well you're probably right, but since I don't have time to make Cassoulet myself, I prefer to order a frozen product and eat it during my lunch time at work. Thanks anyway!
The website looks great but I checked some reviews and a few customers were not really satisfied with delices and gourmandises.
What should I do?
Thank you for all your answers! I appreciate it!
Well then, after some researchs I found out that delices d'annie is the same company as delices and gourmandises but they are specialized in French dishes!
That's what I was looking for, I'm so happy now!
Hi Melisse,
What about "simplygourmand"?? My sister bought foie gras and nectar juices there, the nectar was great but the foie gras was too rich though the taste was sublime . The same for Delices Gourmandises, their products are well priced especially the Duck confit and rillettes, they are excellent.
Hi there,
Maybe it's too late but if you or someone else are looking for the best online French food store in the UK, you'd better have a look either on EuropaFoodXB or edelices. Delices and Gourmandises is also well-known in London though I haven't bought anything from them yet. The first item which attracted me when I went to their website was their chicken in red wine, they've got wonderful range of pastries too. I would be tempted to order their orange nonnettes or fruit jam cakes one of these days maybe...
Chanteroy looks perfect Masterosou, there are very interesting products though I feel a bit of hesitation as far as the pricing is concerned. However, I ordered a bottle of white truffle oil with a jar of whole grain mustard and some butter croissants to begin with, I am still waiting for their delivery.
Delices and Gourmandises is also very nice indeed. I have ordered few pastries and gourmet products which were delivered on time and nicely packaged. I was also tempted to order their Beef Bourguignon and Coq au vin but I found a recipe from their websites. I'll try it, I couldn't afford buying two dishes at the same time, it would be a great expense.
Is there a Delices and Gourmandises company in London?
No, I don't think. Delices and Gourmandises is in Belgium but as it is a food and wine mail order company, you can order products from the UK.
