Can't remove grinding stone on Komo classic

Good morning,

I purchased a used Komo classic mill. The person who had it previously said it hadn't been used in a few years. It works, but I tried to remove the bottom stone and was unable to. I think screw is stuck. Even my brother was unable to unscrew it. He suggested maybe putting a drop of oil where the screw is, but I was afraid to do that because I don't want to mess up the stone. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would like to be able to clean the housing and I also am interested in purchasing the interchangeable stones.

Thanks,
Elaine

Probably your best move would be to contact the manufacturer.  They know their mills, and are in the best position to advise.  They have a pretty good customer service reputation.

Good luck with it

Elaine, give Darren Necker a call at Pleasant Hill Grain. They are on the Internet. They are the U.S. distributor for KoMo.

...turns out I was turning it the wrong way. Apparently, "Lefty Lucy" does not apply to Austrian-made mills🤣

More likely that it has to do with a milling surface that would be unscrewed by the friction of milling so they used a left handed thread.

Instructions are available online and note the required direction to turn.
