20240719 Walmart toaster oven graniteware bake - Berliner Landbrot with CLAS
Hi friends!
I want to share how I bake decent loaves in this mighty toaster oven. Here’s what I do:- Place the TRAY (not the rack) in the lowest slot.
- Put the graniteware roaster (15" oval end-to-end) directly on the TRAY.
- Line the roaster with a layer of aluminum foil.
- Put the lid on the roaster.
- Seal the oven glass from the inside with a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
- Cold oven, no preheat
- Toast
- 450°F x 15 minutes, check

That's it!
A big thank you to Precaud for recommending this oven! It makes breadmaking less annoying and more bearable!

I knew you'd figger out that oven quickly :)
I still haven't used my graniteware roaster with it, but your excellent results say I should !
That is incredible Yippie, you certainly have it all figured out.

The Walmart toaster oven is a game changer—one of the best baking toys I’ve ever snagged!
Yippee
It does pretty good on pizzas too. My Lagasse hasn't been used since the WM arrived.
You might be doing this already for other reasons, but lining the crumb tray with foil helps scatter the radiant from the bottom elements.
I'm doing all the right things
What's Lagasse?
to suggest that you are doing anything wrong...
Lagasse TO : https://www.amazon.com/Emeril-Lagasse-Power-360-Convection/dp/B07NLHMYH4
which, before getting the WM, I thought was decent...
BTW, do you have any idea where I can get an extra tray or something similar/compatible for WM?
No, I don't. I can see how you might want something stiffer than the stock tray.
Happy Thanksgiving, Precaud!
How do you make pizza in your Walmart toaster oven?
Yippee
I haven't done it in a while, pizza season hasn't started for me yet. tt was probably a pan pizza on wire rack, middle shelf position, toast mode, highest temp at least for a while, rotate pan 90º halfway through.
Have you done it in yours?
but I think I could do better. Do you think it’s a stretch to expect a toaster oven to make pizza like this?
Most pizza ovens are shorter and wider, probably with more than two heater elements per side. That may be a limiting factor here.
do you usually bake at the highest temp to get a nice crust without
drying and😃toughening it?With bread/rolls, typically the 1st 50-60% of the total bake time, and then throttle it back. For pizza, is dough drying a concern? I tend to put too many toppings on mine for it to dry :)
