Hello, Southern Indiana
New to the baking world, only about 6 months in.
I am a solid home cook, can make pretty much anything. Been cooking savory for over 30 years.
Avoided baking, before the internet I tried a few times and failed pretty miserably. With savory cooking, there is a lot of latitude with ingredients, and who needs to measure? Baking, obviously very-very different.
The wife and I started trying again, with YouTube - it is so much easier to learn. So many great teachers out there!
Getting pretty good at it, I make some extremely good cookies and cakes thanks primarily to the Preppy Kitchen and Cupcake Jemma.
I make a mean Focaccia and Ciabatta - probably my favorite two breads for a long time. Learning to make traditional loaf breads for sandwiches, making good bread... but not perfect. And I will not be satisfied till it is. That's just me.
Cheers!! Hope to learn from you all, and maybe someday I can teach someone else!
:)
Hello fellow Hoosier! Welcome!
Are you making white or whole grain sandwich bread?
Hello!....
Both actually, I put in part whole grain wheat and part white.
Literally right now in the oven is a bread with 1 cup whole rye and 2 1/2 cups white.
