Turmeric and olive oil loaf
Hey there!
I wanted to share this delicious bread I made last weekend. I found the recipe on the Hungry Herbivores (https://www.thehungryherbivores.com/turmeric-olive-oil-loaf/) but I made a few changes. I subbed out the garlic powder for everything bagel spice, because I love it, and it flecked the dough with sesame seeds and poppy seeds while still imparting that nice garlic flavour.
The bread turned out beautiful with the green onions on top and the golden colour from the turmeric. I think next time I might add a few more green onions, but I loved the taste of them and it was nice that when sliced, each piece of bread had some onion on top. I also added Maldon sea salt, my favourite. The crumb was moist and this was pretty excellent on sandwiches. I think I'd make this again!
Does anyone have any other bread recipes they like using turmeric? This was my first time adding it to a bread and am curious of other great breads that use it.

Hannah I baked this, with a couple of minor changes. My wife likes Turmeric for health reasons but this had an interesting flavour. I'll try it tomorrow toasted but just wanted to say thanks for sharing and I wondered if you had come across other Turmeric delights? Cheers Nigel
Just enter "turmeric" in the search box. Shao Ping was a poster several years ago that had a loveley Orange Turmeic loaf. And there were many others.
Clazar, I don't find the search particularly useful. It's OK if you just want a recipe, but sadly most are so old, either the poster has disappeared or certainly remembers little. Whereas I know Hannah is active on the subject.
That said the recipe looks interesting so I'll give it a go. So thanks for that.
Hi Nigel! Oh awesome you baked the turmeric and olive oil loaf too. In terms of other turmeric breads, the only other way I've tried it is making a turmeric sourdough. I didn't take notes when I baked it, but I think I added in the ballpark of 2/3 tbsp of turmeric during the third fold of bulk fermentation. I also added everything bagel spice to the dough too, maybe a few tbsp. Seems like a weird combination but it actually was really delicious. The orange turmeric loaf the other commenter here mentioned sounds so good! Keep me posted if you end up finding a turmeric bread recipe that is a hit :)
Hannah The book/bread relationship (see Hannah's profile if interested) has got me running through recent reads and thinking what bread the lead characters would prefer. Haha.
The turmeric loaf was even better next day toasted. It goes well with a rasher or two of English cut bacon. In a day or so I'll try the Orange one that Clazar found and get back with results.
Glad your SD benefitted from the Bagel spice. I threw in all the little bits of Indian spice I had left. It does seem a great recipe to use up those little deposits left behind, otherwise never to be used. Cheers

Wow that looks like a pretty excellent breakfast :) Haha I am now always thinking about what bread characters in the books I'm reading might like too.
