Hi y’all!
Hi y’all! I’m new here and am from the Nashville, TN area. I used to own a bakery but I am only an amateur baker. I had professionals doing the baking! I have played around with bread off and on but started baking bread and pizzas quite often when the pandemic hit. I try not to eat much due to blood sugar issues, but I do love to give it away to friends and family. I love reading about the subject, and Google has brought me to The Fresh Loaf on many occasions. I have found many answers here. So today, I decided to join — to learn and to be a part of this cool community. I have a LOT to learn!
I live in Nashville as well! I moved here about a year ago, and just joined TFL a few days ago (although I’ve been baking recipes from here a while longer).
Hi there! I was born and raised in Columbia but went to college in Nashville and lived there afterward—and then moved all over for 30 years! I came back to Tennessee in 2008 and lived in a downtown Nashville condo for a while (before things got too crazy downtown), then I bought a house in Columbia. So I’m 40 miles away actually, but I get to the city frequently.
This is a great place for any kind of learning curve you anticipate. Ask questions, post pics and have fun. Currently, the community is running a rye bake.
Floyd is TFL creator and moderator and is very accessible. Generally, we are pretty much self-managed and the rule is civility, helpfulness and outright kindness. Since we are a world-wide community, I personally believe we make the world a better place, one post at a time. Sometimes names of items, different ingredients and vocabulary can get interesting. Corn flour in 1 country is corn starch in another and that's an easy example.
Welcome and bake some delicious fun!
Thanks so much! I saw the post yesterday about the rye bake; I hope I can take part. I have only baked with rye a few times but have wanted to do more. That’s funny about the names of ingredients. I know how confusing that can get sometimes! Thanks again for the warm welcome!
