To torpedo or to teardrop ? That is the question
The one on the left is a torpedo shape and the right a teardrop. I prefer the teardrop shape but what I am most happy with is the crumb today. Dropped hydration a little and also scored vertically which seems to help getting double grignes. Also did a 2 hour autolyse this time which really reduces the mixing so we'll know soon if that had a positive impact on flavor. Otherwise, I feel like breakdancing !

More crust to crunch!
But seriously awesome baguettes!
I think you are in Canada right ? I feel like it's a Canadian thang - to torpedo that is. Next time you're at a bakery there tell me if I am not crazy - maybe we can get a spreadsheet of stats on straightees v torpedoes there ;)
but baguettes where I live are rounded on the ends. ??♀️
My Canada turf privileges are on thin ice !
Geremy, awesome full sized baguettes sir! On my walk today, I looked through the front window of a local bakery and they had pointy tipped torpedo baguettes, so the smaller bakeries I’ve been into generally have that shaping. Well done!

I am just having fun with you guys - the commonwealth way is 'take the piss out' so-to-speak. Last time I was in Montreal everything was a torpedo - prolly just coincidence of incidence ;)
This looks so good! so that's what its called, Thank you!
I an not sure if that the correct terminology especially the word teardrop. It just seems fitting. Torpedo though is pretty commonc I think - people will understand torpedo shaped baguettes with seeing a picture. Teardrop - may need a picture to make sense.
