Candy canes in baking

I want to make peppermint macarons and top the cookies with crushed candy canes immediately after piping, but i'm afraid that the candy will melt or damage the macaron in some way.  Would this work or should I avoid doing this?

you might be able to pulverize the candy canes in a food processor and add it to the dough or use as a filling between 2 macarons; just a suggestion

let us know what you decide.

I would not worry it takes a lot of heat to melt hard candy, what I would be concerned about is the weight of the pieces as they might sink into the delicate structure of the macaroon.

thanks for the tip.  I've had success with sprinkles before, so maybe weight might not be an issue.
