Where to find Wheat Berries in Canada

Hi,  I've been researching where I can find Hard Red Wheat berries as well as Soft wheat, Durum wheat and Rye.  Does anybody have any sources that they'd like to share.  There doesn't seem to be many around. I also posted this in the ingredients forum, but though that some into milling might know.

Thank you!

I live in BC where there are two companies from which I buy wheat berries regularly. Let me know if you need their contact details

I'm in Ontario.  Thanks for replying.  Do you know if either of your contacts ship?  Thanks!

Grain Process Enterprises in Scarborough may have something. I'm not sure if Wheat berries go by another name...

here is a link to their products https://wildernessreturn.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/grain-process-product-list-may-2011.pdf

Grain Process does certainly have them.  I've bought them there before.  Another option would be organic food stores.

I will call tomorrow and see if they ship (reasonably).  Thanks!

I don't think it is possible to ship a low value high weight item reasonably.  There isn't enough profit in it for the vendor to subsidize the shipping.  Try shipping a case of coke from Ontario to Vancouver, shipping will probably cost $40 to $50 for a $6 item.

Depending on where/how far you are they are open to the public if that's an option. I don't know about shipping. Possibly you'd find the wheat berries in bulkbarn..Grain Process is one of their suppliers.

I tried grain process today, but they only ship for orders of $500 or more unfortunately.  Too bad.  Thanks though.

http://anitasorganic.com/ and http://www.fieldstoneorganics.ca/ are the two companies I buy from regularly. I can't tell you if they ship, sorry.

I hope you get what you need

Thanks for the suggestions.  I haven't called Anita's organic yet, but from the website it doesn't seem that they ship wheat.  Fieldstone is one of the first companies I found but their shipping is really expensive, more so than a few others.  Thanks for the suggestions though, and I will call Anita's.

Gold Forest Grains in Morinville is an organic grower of heritage grains. John Schneider sells freshly milled flour directly at Strathcona farmers market in Edmonton and in several retail locations. He sells wheat berries on request. He has red Fife, park wheat, soft white wheat, spelt, and more. Check his website for Gold Forest Grains.  Not sure about shipping...

Found a company called Grainworks (just search grainworks alberta).  Big selection of grains (other stuff too, although I didn't buy anything other than wheat), with pretty good prices if you're able to buy at least 100lbs worth.  They ship via UPS.  No affiliation, just found them and had a good experience dealing with their rep so thought I'd pass along the resource to others who may be interested.
