Looking for SD scone recipe.

OK I have gathered that in USA a scone is called a biscuit. So now my question..... Does anyone have a recipe for scone/biscuit's made with sourdough????????

My starter is very active and more than I need for daily bread so I want to use it for something else. The other item is pan cakes (USA) or pikelets (OZ) or flapjacks as we call them here in S.A.

Thanks guys.......

Did some google-ing this morning and discovered that what I have always known as Flapjacks are in fact (UK) crumpets. So interesting........ I do have a recipe using baking powder so how do I substitute sourdough for baking powder in both scones and crumpets??????

Come on my bread friends...... I know someone out there has the answer! :)

Hello Maureen,
Here are links to two different sourdough scone recipes, published by Susan on wildyeastblog.

I've made the blueberry ones - we really liked them!
Happy baking,

Hi Maureen

There are numerous threads on this topic here on TFL,  the search box is your friend.

I have always made Susan's  (SusanFNP here on TFL) easy, delicious pancake recipe and often give spare starter and the recipe to friends to make up for themselves (I use  golden syrup or honey when I have no maple syrup):

Lately Caroline (trailrunner) introduced the Sourdough Surprises  website to us, if you look at the archive section on the right of the homepage you will find a link to scones, among the many other baked goods the contributors have made incorporating sourdough. Have fun checking it all out!

Cheers, Robyn

Quick bread scones (about the size of an English muffin) cooked on a cast iron griddle and flipped like a pancake. They take about 7 minutes per side. I use a griddle heat a little lower than that used to cook pancakes.

I also make yeast raised English muffins cooked on a griddle in a similar way to the griddle scones above.

A sourdough scone version cooked on a griddle sounds interesting.
