From an Army Surplus Wagon
After the Civil War, Charles Goodnight bought an army surplus wagon and designed and made the first Chuck Wagon. We ranched where he use to gather his herds in north central Texas.
He was the first to take sourdough down the trail; his wife saved the last Texas buffalo on their ranch. Just some passing trivia about cooking and sourdough history. The Indians called him Mr. Bueno Noche, thus my handle. I have one of his brands, the JA - John Adair his banker and partner. My brand was hammer welded usning borax powder to keep the hot iron from oxidizing too fast.
