Today's Break-fast bake
The Jewish members of my family and friends, have been fasting for the last (almost) 24 hours, as is traditional for Yom Kippur. I have been making their life difficult by baking and making the house smell very tempting. The good thing is that those "fasters" will be allowed to enjoy the results in a couple of hours.Break-fast bake I
Inspired by Mariana, I produced Challah and "rolls" today. Half the rolls are filled with sugar, the other half or so with the poppy-seed paste. The recipe I used, like Mariana, is Rose Levy Beranbaum's "New Traditional Challah".

I can't believe that you tortured yourself with the wonderful aroma of fresh baked breads, having fasted for 24 hours. They are lovely..
I am not Jewish, so I did not fast, so no torture for me. On the other hand, I am a diabetic, so when I bake, I can only eat moderate amounts of my product. That's a form of torture I think :-)

These look marvelous! Can we come for breakfast even if we haven't been fasting? ;~)
There was a group of 7 of us tonight. The Challah is completely gone, but about half the rolls are left over. Come and get some!
