White wholewheat flour
Does anyone know if white wholewheat flour is available in Canada (I live in Ontario). I have been unable to find a supplier so far.
I would like to experiment with it. What is the difference in nutritional value, taste, texture, etc. to regular wholewheat.
I found an earlier TFL thread on the subject here:

The USA Today link the first poster provides is worth following.
Farmers don't grow the white whole wheat here in Canada because it's too expensive; however, you can buy it if you can find a place that sells Bob's Red Mill products. I certainly wish it were more available here.
Many thanks PaddyL. I can get Bob's Red Mill products locally but haven't noticed white wholewheat flour. I shall enquire at the stores.
King arthur flour carries it too, i heard. It's worth the price tag.
all the best.
Thank you Mebake, but King Arthur Flour is not in Canada and it is too expensive to have it shipped from U.S.
I've been buying WWW aa store brand at half the cost of KA on the same store shelves - same protein.
KA White Whole Wheat and Whole Wheat flour on the shelves here in my small home town (CA, USA) and I see they have a store in Ontario. You might give them a call and ask them if they have it there. I see it here all the time for (US)$8.99 for 10 pounds, and on sale for (US)$7.99 two or three times a year.
Good luck in your search

White whole wheat has a milder flavor than traditional whole wheat. It is nutritionally identical to the traditional whole wheat. I use it quite a lot….even in Cinnamon rolls and such, most people do not realize that they are eating whole wheat. (not that it makes a cinnamon roll "healthy" since it is full of butter and sugar)
Wheat Montana sells a wonderful white whole wheat flour and I buy it through Country Life Natural Foods in Michigan. (www.clfn.org) If you ever are "south of the border", it may be a possible source for you….their prices are good.
To say www.clnf.org

thanks for catching that, Paul.
