Ode to a natural levain
Apologies to, and inspiration by, Carole King.
Looking down at the morning toast I used to feel so uninspired And when I knew I had to butter another slice
Lord, it made me feel so tired
Before the day I met you, bread was so unjust
But your the key to my piece of crust 'Cause you bake me real,
You bake me real,
You bake me real like
A natural levain When my boule was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it
I didn't know just what was wrong with yeast
Lievito Madre helped me name it
Now I'm no longer doubtful, of what I'm mixing for
And if French Folds make me happy I don't need to do more 'Cause you bake me real,
You bake me real,
You bake me real like
A natural levain Oh, baguettes, what you've done to me
You score and spring so good outside
And I just want to eat
Loaves of you
You make me feel so alive 'Cause you bake me real,
You bake me real,
You bake me real like
A natural levain

Bravissimo!
I can contract with Aretha Franklin to do a cover of it. She's missing out!
Drake's Bay Oysters! When we lived in Sacramento we drove there a few times to pick up oysters for dinner with friends in S.F. I read that they were closed down a few years ago. But the memories still remain.
thanks, alan
Masterpieceful.
Now don't go making us wait forever for the crumb shot (= youtube video, in this case).
the silly refrain was bouncing around in my head. So I says to me "Me. Why not annoy other people with these inane lyrics too?". So I says back to me "Yo me, what a great idea." Hence, that is the way idiocy is born (borne?).
I was next going to work on "Dark Star Anise" but my wife threatened to sue me for cruelty if I did.
will never be the same.
Say...that gives me the idea for a wonderful new parody. Wait, wait, wait. Nah.
I'd love to hear you sing it...on YouTube
But to address your deepest desires to be so offended by the sound of one's voice, I quote the great great Leo Kottke who said that his voice sounds "like geese farts on a muggy day". And his singing voice is immeasurably better than mine.
suck though.....
