Shaolin Monk vs. Robot
This year, the boy requested a Shaolin Monk on his birthday cake (he's obsessed with all things Chinese).
And a robot saying "beep".

Lovely cake, dstroy! I love making and baking cakes. Is that a mocha frosting or chocolate? How did you get the frosting smooth and even on top?
Your son sure does look pleased!
Sadly, I must admit to cheating big-time on this one!
I got a sheet cake with plain chocolate frosting from costco this year and decorated it from there - we had 43 party-goers to feed this year! (We had thought that an afterschool-pizza-party would be less popular since it was middle of the week, but evidently folks were thrilled to have their weekends left alone so EVERYONE came!)
I almost didn't post, since I didn't even bake this, but you know, it's the blogs, and well, I always post the kids' cakes so...
Well, the whole thing looks professional. I would have believed you if u had said the monk and robot were also done by costco. Very steady hands. Difficult when doing such intricate design. Good job!
Great looking cake! It seems that Felix liked it as well.
43 kids! I can hardly imagine.
It was 43 with the parents and siblings who came, including a couple of babies. So it wasn't *that* bad, but still... almost as many people as we had at our wedding!
