Blue stain soft loaf with blue poppy seeds

can't help myself, blue is my favorite color!! just have to stain my pretty white loaf ;)

of course the blue pea flower for the natural blue . it is for the visual effect :)

to add another dimension of taste, i used lavender sugar.

this is a hokkaido milk loaf recipe made with blue berry YW & SD

of 'blue Stain'.  Much better than other colors.  It has to taste as good as it looks.  So did you use your impossible to find blue poppy seeds too!  How do you like the YW and SD combination.  I would think it pretty good for white bread....eeerrrr....blue stain.  I'm not a big fan of lavender using it only in Herbs de Provence mix and one in a blue  moon in some pickles.  Have quite a lot of it and need to use it somewhere.  Nice baking Evon!

hello DA, love the YW n SD combination a lot. white soft bread not my cup of tea as well. had to practice to make a good soft loaf to have varieties to my bread baking. here, in Malaysia soft loaf is popular. to cater for the non hard core bread lovers i venture into soft bread with the help of the famous txfarmer! baking soft loaf with a natural wild yeast. making it a healthier version of soft breads.

as for the add ons for the bread, i would be thinking of the benefit it adds to the final product. of course, the taste as well to be generally accepted by majority. i love lavender for its scent as a soap and color. as to put in cooking and baking i was having doubts cos it tastes soapy to me. i learnt from Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall to blend them with sugar for all baking and sweeten tea even. surprisingly delightful!!

give it a chance!

This is as good as soft white bread can get! I too try to wean my friends & children from soft, white bread towards hearty, wholegrain crusty ones, but it is a long battle.

Baking soft loaf with natural wild yeast would be healthier than using commercial yeast! So please pamper your friends and children sometimes ;)
