A little sweet and a little Chinese for the special day
Today is Valentine's Day also Chinese New Year. I wanted to bake something for both occasions. Ended up making these sweet buns with a Chinese spin: mini Chinese cocktail buns with sweet coconut fillings.
Happy Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year!

happy valentine's day, claudia
Claudia, I found this recipe on the Internet. Here's a link to it:

There are many recipes like this available online. Just google "cocktail buns recipes" and you will find plenty. I picked this one simply because it was one of the first few recipes that popped up. The instructions were divided into two parts: dough and fillings. You may want to read through the whole page before starting or you could become very confused. The dough recipe is big enough for 16 buns but the filling recipe only makes enough for 8 buns. I used the rest of dough to make a small loaf of sweet sandwich bread. But you can half the dough recipe to make just enough for the fillings.
Happy baking!

You're most welcome! Hope you enjoy making these Chinese buns. They are fun to make and yummy too. Al
Yumm! I really would love to try and make these. We used to live right by Chinatown so I used to just walk to a local bakery to get some, but now I don't even live close to a Chinese market at all. Thanks, I never knew what to look for as far as recipes!!
I am amazed that there are even chi. style buns on this website. Here's a pic of the cocktail buns that I made at the backing classl. I'd be happy to share the recipe if anyone is interested.
