Sweet Vanilla Challah
Here is a big 1.5 Kilo 5-strand braided challah bread. I put extra effort into the pics to try and make it onto the homepage here (hint-hint, wink-wink Floyd)

That is amazing looking Challa... I am searching for the recipe!! Lovely.

I used vanilla paste I got from King Arthur Flour. It really helped keep the flavor in it. The first time I made this I used vanilla extract and it didnt have any vanilla flavor. So if your going to use extract I would probaly double the amount. Or use a vanilla bean.
That beauty has "holiday" written all over it! Nice baking.
Thanks :)
Looks great! I have never thought of adding vanilla to my Challah. I once tried adding Cardamom - didn't work out that well!
the only bread I ever made that was totally inedible was Scandinavian Cardamon Bread. It is an acquired taste you have to grow up with in the very high doses the recipe called for when it came to this spice.
Above the beautiful Challah would be the title MANNA and below the Challah would be From Heaven.
Very nice baking!
Decided to make this treat today for an Early Christmas Dinner.... will add a crumb shot when we cut it. I love the way the dough smells... made my kitchen smell like I made sugar cookies.
It spread a bit more than I would have liked... but I bet it will taste just as good.
Happy Christmas Baking,
Diane
My frist attempt at this same recipe. I used vanilla bean paste but it was still mild so next time will double it. It makes wonderful french toast as well! I had fun practicing the braiding :-)
Happy Holidays to all on TFL!

Looks great!!
